I believe this pope is a great man and a man who, to a great extent, helped Ronald Reagan shape the fall of communisms in the east block coutries. I understand he has stood firm against New Age devotees in the Vatican and have read speculation that at his passing a new pope with leaning toward the New Age Movement will be selected. I do not keep up with Vatican politics. Can someone with knowlege give me information along this line?
I recall reading an article a few years ago about papal politics and who might be candidates. Seems like there is some pressure for a black pope - since africa has a strong, growing catholic population, it makes sense.
One bishop that fits that bill, evidently, is very conservative and oldschool when it comes to church matters. Not a New Ager at all. So maybe he will get the nod - I wish I remember his name though.

The Pope appointed something like 170 of the current 180 cardinals. I am sure he chose them to continue his legacy.
