Let's not go overboard, in many respects, American democracy functions and very well - vote fraud was insufficient to topple the President. Tom Daschle was deprived of employment. :) While the judiciary is irresponsible, more or less, it does perform, kind of, less than it should but still, the functions it is supposed to.

This is an area for improvement. But don't cast out the baby with the bathwater. America is not over and there is no reason to think it so.

Regards, Ivan

I dunno, Ivan.

When the entire political and judicial system fails an innocent woman, it's kinda hard to say that there isn't a point where the whole thing is pretty useless.

I really like your posts and value your wisdom.
But you are WRONG WRONG WRONG.

This is the system that led to 950 stolen FBI files ... nothing

Sandy Berger Burglar .... nothing.

Murder of Handicapped begging for her life ... nothing.

Open borders with attacks on those who defend it .... on and on and on.

This tragedy highlights the President's efforts to reform the judiciary and our tort system. Unelected judges really think they can blow off the elected representatives of the people. It obviously needs to extend down into the state level. The way judges in Florida are picked probably needs reformation (I am one time resident of the state). Essentially judges at the appelate level and justices in Florida are picked by the Bar association.

I don't think a Federal judge has been impeached and removed from office since Alcee Hastings in the early 90's. He turned around and got himself elected to Congress from ...Florida. The legislative and executive branches must actually check the judicial branch and quit ceding power to them.

I would agree my initial rhetoric was over the top. The governor's race in Washington state was flat out stolen although the big prize was not. Real election reform is needed.

We change Florida Statue 765.101(10) and that would prevent this injustice.:
765.101 (10)"Life-prolonging procedure" means any medical procedure, treatment, or intervention, including artificially provided sustenance and hydration,[...]

Until that changes, judges can act in this manner.
