What do you consider many years? They were married for five years when Terri suffered cardiac arrest. To me, that isn't that long and they were very young at the time. My ex-husband and I never discussed those issues when we were in our early 20's. It didn't cross either of our minds that we might end up in a situation like that.
This is an excellent point.

I suspect that "Living" Wills shall now become a standard form along with pre-nups for couples intending to marry "til death do us part".

No doubt you are correct about Living Wills. We will also see what laws, if any, are enacted following from the recommendations of the likes of David Boies and other usually scary folk who have been on Terri's side.
