P.S. I also dug Mark Knofler's rewrite of "Satisfaction" as "Money for Nothing" in the mid-80s.
This is horrible, but I get so danged tired of the Beatles.
I like "Sweet Home Alabama," but I'm tired of it. My favorite Skynyrd tunes are "Call Me the Breeze" and "Simple Man." Nothing wrong with "Freebird" and "Tuesday's Gone" though.
Not the greatist of all time, but "Walk like an Egyptian" by the Bangles gets the most play on my 'puter.
Bbbbbad, bbbbbaaaddd to the bone...
And, one my favorites, "Seven Beers with the Wrong Woman." (anon)
IMHO, the best opening guitar lick ever was George Harrison's scorching slide on John Lennon's "I Don't Wanna Be a Soldier."
My grandmother and GREAT grandmother loved "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter."
Heart first introduced Barracuda at a free open air concert in Boston in the late 70s. I was there. Very cool opening lick. Whats also cool is that the actual feedback during the lick was made into "studio" feedback on the recording using guitar
Nevertheless, best opening lick is Van Halen's "Running with the Devil"
Have you ever heard "Without You" by the Doobies? (Listen here). You wouldn't know it was the same band. It's an amazing, hard-rocking number, best appreciated at ear-splitting levels.
I love "25 or 6 to 4," but "Feeling Stronger Every Day" is my favorite Chicago tune. It never fails to pick me up. The funniest part of the song, if you listen closely, is the "it's a gas, gas, gas" backing vocal. "It's a gas" sure sounds dated.
I love that song!
(I have their "Greatest Hits" album)
Good one. I love "Rocky Mountain Way" too.
I play in a band (for 45 years) and I've played SHA too many times to appreciate it anymore...although I respect your opinion.
"I Wonder Why" by Dion and the Belmonts,"
din din din dadin din dadin dadadin din din dadin din da dida dida daaaaaaon't know why I LOVE YOU LIKE I DO!!........
Nice choice. James Gang is one of the best bands ever.
How old are you? Five? LOL! Herman Hermits were just danged fun. That's all.
"Maybe it was during the Grammy Awards, when an all-star band jammed to this song onstage..."
Love the song, but quite possibly could've been the WORST rendition of it ever performed...
Well, that will kill it for you. I totally understand your viewpoint, though.
