Question... Is Terri's skull thicker than a normal person, or is the picture of her skull a cross-section of a higher plane of her head, where the skull is beginning to round off? Looks to me (admittedly this is the first CT scan I have ever seen, so it is pure conjecture) that the two scans are not on the same plane. It may be irrelevant but I find it dubious.

The black and white scans are not both Terri's. Only the one on the right.

I'm not a doctor either, but I have a fairly decent education and a lot of exposure. It is quite clear to me as well that these scans are of different planes, with Terri's being near the top of the skull and the other scan more nearly mid brain.

By the way, I make this judgement in part on the basis of a set of MRI scans of my own brain I have in my posession.

The thick white outline is not her skull, it the cerebral cortex. The skull is clearly visible as the thin white line that circumnavigates the brain. This is most evident in #16. The gap between the skull and the cerebral cortex is composed of the of venous sinus of dura mater and subarachnoid space. I don't think the arachnoid menenge is going to show up on a CT scan.

I saw a post somewhere else that said the scans shown on Greta's show one night were definitely not the same angle.the one the left was a top view and the scan they had on the right was from another angle and showed the sinus and eye cavities clearly.

I read an article yesterday about a very intelligent young man who has less brain mass than what is considered normal, something like 7%. I just tried to find it but I can't.

Also there is a thread here about one of our freepers who has part of the brain missing and just as normal as the next person.

you are 100%correct -you just passed the radiology boards -neuro section.
Her brain is highly atrophic ,but the plane of section is different.
