I'm sorry, but you are in error. A feeding tube is extraordinary life support. It is on equal grounds with a ventilator.
Though the Florida Legislature declared it to be so in 1999, it was not so at the time Terri made her remarks about 'tubes'. Suppose that the legislature were to declare that 'artificial life support' included the purchasing and acquisition of foodstuffs. Would it be legitimate to interpret a living-will request of 'no life support' as authorizing the starvation of anyone who couldn't get themselves to the store to buy their own food?
You may be correct legally, and I only admit that because I've heard the Supreme Court may have ruled that at one point. I'm not sure if this is the case or, if so, what the specifics were.
I certainly don't think it should be, especially in a case like this.
In any event, there are reports that Terri would otherwise be able to take nourishment orally.
What about straws and baby bottles? What about elderly who have to be spoonfed?
BTW, your opinion that feeding tubes are equivalent to ventilators is a feeble, fact-free opinion.
What you should be doing is questioning yourself as to why you are so anxious to allow disabled people to be starved/dehydrated to death.
