Pa. College Professor Arrested at Schiavo Hospice
NEPA News and AP ^ | March 29, 2005 | AP

A professor at a Bible college near Scranton, Pa., was arrested Tuesday as he tried to storm into the hospice caring for Terri Schiavo.

Dow Pursley, 56, was zapped with a Taser stun gun and tackled to the ground by officers before he reached the door, Pinellas Park police said. He became the 47th protester arrested.

Pursley, who is on the faculty of the Baptist Bible College & Seminary in Clarks Summit, Pa., had two bottles of water with him, police said. He was charged with attempted burglary and resisting arrest.

Baptist Bible College officials said in a written statement that Pursley was not acting on the school's behalf and had traveled to Florida on his personal time.

"He is a dedicated man with strong beliefs and God-given convictions," the statement said.

Pursley is the clinical director of counseling programs for the theological college's graduate school. He also helps oversee a campus clinic that offers psychological counseling based on biblical teaching.

Baptist Bible College spokesman Mark Robbins said that while the college "believes in the sanctity of life," it has not taken an official position on the Schiavo case.

Doctors said that Schiavo, 41, would probably die within a week or two after the tube was removed on March 18. She suffered catastrophic brain damage in 1990 when her heart stopped for several minutes because of a chemical imbalance.

Advocating lawlessness is not the solution to anything!

That's silly. Of course it is. This country was founded by lawbreakers.

Yes, she is our sister. Our spiritual fathers are failing us as are our political leaders. I can't believe that it is Jesse Jackson and Bo Gritz on the front line, but God Bless them.

"Offering a drink of water to a helpless, dying woman is not unlawful behavior."

Except in Florida and Nazi Germany.

"The police aren't there to persecute those tourists...they are there to protect them from the people who live here, and who are not real pleased about having this circus going on."

The "people who live there" have created this circus with their backwater mentality and good 'ol boy local "judicial system". That whole 'circus' down there is about the blind Judge Greer and his friendly campaign donator, George Felos, whose presense in this case creates a massive legal conflict of interest.

What do these backwater Pinellas County police do when they catch an out of state speeder, harvest his spleen? There's a stench coming from Southern Florida that wreaks worse than Bill Clinton's old cigars.

The people who live here and made the law don't want to change it. We have a large elderly population here and this kind of family decision is made every day in our nursing homes and hospices.

You know, there's a school of thought that a terrible injustice can blight the fate of nations. I wonder if it's true?

-- Yes. You are about to see it happen.

How we handle this will make a big difference.

We habituially approach other countries with the hope they will view us as occupying the moral high ground. Letting an injustice of kind pass sends the wrong message, to be sure.

Just to right the balance, I would like for an Iran and Iraq delegation of Moslems to visit our country, and give a speech on what they feel is a humane policy for people in Terri's situation. It would give them a chance to speak, and show that we can eat humble pie...we're overdue.

Where ARE ALL the holy priests of God in the dioceses of Florida? South Beach? Bars in Key West?

Of course it is. I don't agree with it in the cases of people who aren't terminal, but Floridians seem to feel differently.

The only reason we're hearing about Terri Schiavo is because her parents object. If her parents agreed with MS, she would be eight years dead.

But, the ranting and raving will continue.......

Dear KDD,

Maybe some don't, but others do.

My father lives about an hour from where Terri is being murdered. He used to have an Advanced Medical Directive. He never realized that this could be done to him because of it.

Last night, he told me that if he is sick and can't speak for himself, that I am to insist that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are they to starve him to death or murder him by dehydration.

A lot of people were duped by diabolic individuals like felos and greer into thinking this was about not being hooked up to ventilators and gosh-awful machines, NOT THAT NO ONE COULD EVEN TRY TO GIVE THEM A SIP OF WATER FROM A CUP.

Here is perhaps the "great sadness" and "malaise" of the secrets of Fatima: there are probably more priests in jail now for aggravated rape and sodomy (or under suspension) than are on the frontlines defending innocent life.

How barbaric have we become? Weep America, weep for what we have lost for it is the Kingdom of God we have traded away. Weep.

I am only avoiding spasms of tears because the news just announced that an appeal has been granted. I think that means our sister will get food and water in the next few minutes. God is a great and merciful God.
