She's a very pretty litte girl. I know they will patch her up and do an excellent job of it. Another hero in this story besides the President and wife of Ukraine, is our country's generosity. Notice how Germany wouldn't do it unless it was for money.
She is an Angel!
And as for Germany, there is a special place for those that turn their backs on a child in need.
Prayers for a full recovery, will continue to search.Five-year-old Nastya Ovchar remains in serious condition
14 April 2005 | 18:12Details
Source: UNIANThe five-year-old Ukrainian girl who was injured is still in serious condition.
According to the foreign ministry press service, with links to the general consulate of the Ukraine in New York, the girl receives twice-weekly surgical procedures to remove damaged skin, and transplant new skin.
On April 18th Nastya and her mother at the Boston 'Shriner' hospital will be visited by a chief of the Ukrainian-American Union and the wife of the consular-general in New York. They are to give the injured girl's mother a donation in the amount of US$ 5000, which was collected by representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in the USA.
The matter continues to be under the direction of the Ukrainian foreign ministry and the consulate general of the Ukraine in New York.
As was reported earlier, on March 15th five-year-old Nastya and her two-year-old sister Lyuda were alone in their house in the village of Vorontsovka in the Kupyanskiy region. When the fire began, the older sister at first tried to extinguish it by herself. After a time, she understood that it was beyond her ability, Nastya, covering her sister's body with her own, carried her from the burning house. As a result of the tragedy Nastya received 3rd degree burns over 80% of her body. The girl is now receiving treatment in the city of Boston (USA), in the Shriner's children's hospital.
A prayer for this little guy wouldn't hurt.Fifth-grader Burned at Gas Station
Only a few meters from the house where 12 year-old Igor Lozinskiy lives, on the outskirts of the Southeast district, is the NarOil gas station where the local boys gas up cars for pocket change. Igor had been working here for about a year.At One O'Clock last Thursday afternoon, a tanker truck delivered fuel to the station's underground storage tank. The driver asked Igor to look after the hose. What happened next is told by Igor's neighbor, Vitalik, who at that moment was standing next to the 92 and 96 octane gas pumps:
"I filled up an Audi, took 10 tenge (seven US cents), and the car drove off. I turned around and I saw everything just flare up by the gas truck, and it was burning all around. Igor, too."
"The hose somehow got pulled lose and gasoline was pouring out, the fellow started to close it with his hand," added another fill-up boy. "And then it just exploded, I don't know from what, maybe some spark, it just flared up."
"I yelled: 'Lay down!'" Vitalik continued. "I ran over to the tanker, but the workers with the hoses had already put out Igor. They picked him up. He yelled from fright, and ran around not knowing where to go. He hid behind the garage and was crying there. I went over to him. Later we started to sort things out, but that guy, the driver of the tanker truck, he told Igor: 'Listen, enough whining like a little girl, quit it.' They took Igor to the main building, where they take orders, and he sat there. Someone bought him a tranquilizer pill at the nearby hospital. Igor gave me the keys to his apartment, and I ran over to warn his parents. I don't go to the gas station anymore - the boss doesn't let us work there now, and my mom won't let me..."
The physicians who came on the ambulance established that the boy had burns on 60 percent of his body. He was in shock when taken to the intensive care ward of the Makazhanov hospital. The doctors so far would not make a prognosis about Igor's chances for recovery. The Fire Marshall continues his investigation.

"He was for us like a little star"
They were not able to save Igor Lozinskiy, the 12 year-old who was burned at a gas station.
'Noviy Vestnik' has already told of the awful events at the 'Naroil' gas station, located in the southeast region of Karaganda. Here schoolchildren from the nearby apartment buildings would earn a little money. According to them, a fuel truck driver was pumping fuel into the underground tank, and had asked the child for help. The hose exploded, however, when fuel fumes unexpectedly flashed. Igor received burns on 60% of his body. For almost two weeks he lay in intensive care at the Makazhanov hospital, but the doctors were unable to help him.
Investigators from the fire department have already made their report. Natalya Lankova, a senior engineer at the city department of emergency situations control, explained that the cause of the fire was 'a spark of static electricity'. This could have been for two reasons: it is possible that the tanker was not grounded (the body of the truck should have a cable, which during fueling operations is tossed on the ground), or the portable pump was not in proper working order. The owners of the gas station have refused to display their equipment for examination by the experts, and the case is now being handled by the police. An investigation should determine who will bear the responsibility for this awful departure from the rules of fire safety at the gas station, since bystanders, especially children, are categorically forbidden from being in the vicinity.
The grief-stricken parents of the dead child do not wish to look for the guilty. No one can return their son to them. "He was for us like a little star," said Yuriy Vasilevich (Lozinskiy), the father of Igor. "He united our entire family."
"Besides those who tried to save my little boy, there are people who gave us support. We are very thankful to them," added Irina Anatolevna (Lozinskaya), the boy's mother.

And from Hotline:Nastya Ovchar wants to walk
News July 7th, 2005 18:13Nastya Ovchar's psychologic condition is satisfactory, a correspondent was told in an exclusive interview with Sergey Samborskiy, the family's sponsor.
Samborskiy noted that "she (Nastya Ovchar) has the feeling that she wants to walk, and so she is already walking."
Samborskiy also stated that on Monday Nastya had corrective surgery. According to him, the girl received a skin graft under her left knee.
Five year-old Nastya Ovchar has been at the Boston burn center, were she had gone after carrying her little sister from a fire.

Nastya Ovchar will live in Kyiv
Jul 11, 16:55The little rescuer, Nastya Ovchar, now in a Boston hospital, will return to Ukraine in several months. All the villagers of Vorontsivka await her, but it is now known that the Ovchar family will move instead to Kyiv, where there are more opportunities for Nastya's further treatment. Nina Korpachova, an authorized parliamentary representative for civil rights, went to Vorontsivka herself to ask Nastyas father to move to the capital.
When Ms. Korpachova saw the new house (in Voronstivka, donated by well-wishers for the family), she was eager to exchange her own apartment, but she convinced Nastyas father that it would be better for the girl to stay in Kyiv.
Half a million hrivnas (about $100,000) are in Nastyas account, and that will be sufficient to remodel an apartment not far from the Kyiv burn center. After Nastya returns from America, she will require a long rehabilitation. Sergiy Samborskiy, who played a great role in the organization of Nastyas treatment, made this announcement.
In two weeks (July 25th), Nastya will be six. She will receive a lot of presents, but the best one will be from her sister Lyuda.
Aw! that is wonderful! thank you for pinging me!
She looks like a sweet kid.
Of course here in this country DFCS would have taken
her and her sister into custody and put her father into
jail for leaving them in the house alone.
