Thai news reporting evacuations along Patong Beach in Phuket is complete.
Well, on USEnet according to a reliable poster, the USGS is now stating this quake propagated SOUTH from the epicenter; meaning it's a new ruputure of an area unbroken by the December quake.
Which means a couple of things:
1) There's no tsunami threat to Thailand at all, and a minimal one to India and Sri Lanka.
2) I really think there could have been a large Tsunami in Sumatra, even though we've heard nothing, because it would have occured SOUTH of Banda Aceh with little effect there, and NORTH of the large city of Padang. It's populated but no big centers, hence no media there. And the media seems to only be talking to Banda Aceh and focusing on Thailand.
