I should have phrased that better. I meant our efforts to get Bush to act when we wanted him to. I've always believed that we should pray for His guidance...and then wait for His answer. Unfortunately, I didn't do that myself. I prayed and called and emailed and worried. I was so depressed I could barely function. When that avenue seemed closed, I felt a sense of calm and I knew I had to let Him handle it His way.
I don't presume to speak for the Bush brothers, but don't you think it is possible they have prayed and the Lord has told them to wait? Perhaps they had the same message we were all receiving last week..."Be still and know that I Am God".
If it had just been Republicans stepping up, the fighting over this issue would be horrendous. Now with Jackson entering the fight there will be Democrat support. Just because we wanted our leaders to take action, doesn't mean that God did.
God always answers prayers but sometimes we don't recognize the answer and sometimes we don't like it. His ways are perfect and His will is perfect. I have not given up, I've just given it to God. Pray for His direction and go where He leads.
Ver well said, Krodg. I've felt this along, too. I trust the Holy Spirit in President Bush and Governor Bush, who have both professed Jesus Christ as their Lord, to be leading them. I don't have reason to doubt that they are following, even tho from our perspective we may have wished for them to be acting when the Lord was telling them to wait.
