The cops don't work directly for the Governor. The folks who do the hiring and firing run the County, I believe.

Then how does Judge Greer (from the cited article) get off ordering "Each and every one of the 72 Sheriffs in the State of Florida to enforce this order."?

Doesn't the State of Florida understand the concept of "Separation of Powers"?

The state police work for the Governor.

It's as I suspected.

There might have been bloodshed, so the decision was made not to go in.
