its a mess down there. no doubt about it. seems to be some kind of a collision of cultures. theories abound about the northern retirees vs the locals, but i do not know if that is the root of it. i view it as a magnified collection of all the possible difficulites we face in trying to compromise a very diverse population. it is some sort of testing ground for accumulated grievances that exist across America.
California was once thought of as the test area for progressive ideas and lifestyles. Maybe Florida is the arena for discussion and resolution of ethical and constitutional differences of opinion. what happens there is certainly generating a lot of interest througout this country. i am glad it is so far away from me. if we can settle it there, the solution will be adopted everywhere, i hope, because we don't need to do this in each and every state. yes, i know, i am indicating that this is a Federal, and not a State issue, or issues. Federalism is going to be the big winner regardless of the details, and that is already evident by the intrusion of Congress and the President. (the Supreme Court refused to hear it, didn't they?) so like it or not, its Federal and it will be precedent for all the states.
No, I'm comparing the self-righteous rantings and ravings of people who seem to think that we need the Bible as our national blueprint instead of the Constitution to the self-righteous rantings and ravings of those Islamic fundamentalists who want Sharia law to take precedent over civil authority.
'Christophobic' means I hate Christ. That's not true, either. I'm not too fond of so-called Christians frothing at the mouth, though.
please explain how starving an innocent woman to death is not murder? What is her crime that she is denied a drink of water on her death bed?
No, they must obey God rather than men. Case open in God's court!!!
Free the Nikes!
Attacking her intelligence - That's rich, coming from you, especially after your resorting to the 'highly intelligent' tactic of saying "Shut up"...
yeah, I'm familiar with your sick type.
See my profile page.
It's sickening.
You seem to know the words, but can't carry the tune...your criticisms have been both bitter and personal.
The media would have a hayday bashing Bush and Congress if they held Greer in contempt - I think I heard somewhere that Greer had immunity from that anyway, but I'm not sure why. But the press would portray Congress as you said, vindictive, lordly, overpowering, etc. - in other words, everything the COURTS are.
And, if this case does not get the Republican Senators off their collective rear ends to get Bush's judicial nominees through, then nothing will. We have to stay on their case, and I just hope and pray they do go the so-called nuclear option as the courts are out of control. This fiasco must never happen again.
I know what you mean about the crazies and fanatics and nutjobs who make us look bad, as the press eats that up and loves to paint us all as religious wackos, and it really infuriates me. We never get good press anyway in the MSM and that just reinforces stereotypes of a bunch of religious right-wing loonies.
Please tell us what Christian is, then. We are waiting.
I am in know way a biblical scholar but have read it front to back about 8 times and was in bible study from about 10 years old...I understand where you are coming from but if we get caught up in throwing biblical quotes around, it will be a long night.....God will thus judge us accordingly don't ya think........and right now, it seems you are judging the Bush's, the judge and any number of people.
This is basic stuff, but you wouldn't know it by the way some normally, seemingly, intelligent people talk.
"We have to stay on their case, and I just hope and pray they do go the so-called nuclear option"
What if they fold like a cheap poker table?
>>>For someone "posessing" intelligence so superior to mine, you ought to learn how to spell. Do that, then come back and insult me some more...m'kay? Moron.<<<
YOu know you have lost the argument when you have to diss spelling. My spelling sucks, so what? At least I understand the laws of logic and apply them correctly. Which is more important, spelling or understanding how to think?
Questioning your intelligence isn't an ad hominem attack. It is a rational decision based upon reason.
-If you can't make a point without a logical fallacy, then you are unable to correctly use logic.
-If you are unable to correctly use logic, you lack in intelligence.
You qualify for that argument, because you make points using logical fallacy. After having pointed it out, you have not corrected your use of logic, therefore it is rational to state that you lack in intelligence.
Game, Set Match.
Didn't a governor in Indiana or Illinois recently commute all the death row inmates to life in prison right before he
left office? He didn't even have to use the state police to "rescue" them. The court sentenced them to death and the gov. changed the sentence to life in prison. Seems to
me the governor does have the capability of opposing legal decisions of the court.
We also have 3 co-equal branches of government. It is up to the executive to enforce court decisions or not to enforce them. See http://www.nationalledger.com/commentary/article_1253.shtml
I wish I understood the logic in that...he would have to be brought before a judge, correct? What do you think would be the result of that?
