Really? In which trial was that testimony revealed?

Words Terri actually said, from testimony in the first trial (paraphrased):

Regarding her grandmother being in intensive care - If I'm ever a burden, I would not want to live like that.

Regarding a TV show depicting people on life support - I would not want to life (sic) like that.

Regarding her grandmother's funeral luncheon - If I ever go like that just let me go. Don't leave me there. I don't want to be kept alive on a machine.

Regarding a TV show with a man in a coma - I want it stated in my will that I would want the tubes and everything taken out if that ever happened to me.

Those of you who are engaging in name-calling against your fellow Freepers may want to consider how that is helping the board, or the cause of Conservatism in general. Any lurking DUmmies are probably laughing up their sleeves at how the Freepers are now eating their own young. It is certainly not helping to bring us all closer together.

Last night, on MSNBC, Michaeil Shiavo stated this:
"At the grandmother's funeral luncheon, Terri sadi she didn't want to be kept alive on ANY LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM"

Strange phrase to include FUTURE life support SYSTEMS/
eXCUSE ME, SPIDER, BUT AT THE TIME TERRI ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL AND SEVERAL YEARS LATER, food and water, was not LISTED IN FLORIDA LAW LIFE SUPPORT "SYSTEMS'
Note Shiavos brother was very careful to word "life support systems", to make sure and FUTURE i.e. food/water is included in his statement, when at that time, 1988 it was UNHEARD OF AND NOT LAW, food/water in the LEGAL listing of life support!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've made many statements (off-hand and serious) that could be used as proof that I would not want to live in a near or actual persistent vegetative state. However, I've never (up until recently) made those statements with any awareness that they could eventually be used to my being starved and dehydrated to death. When the stakes are this high, intentions should be in writing, written in response to specific, end-of-life questions, if they are determinative. I don't believe Terri would want her parents to suffer this way...unless Terri was as selfish as her mercenary ghoul of a "husband".
