Nope. Not just a Florida thing at all...but I have seen more stories about bad rulings on dehydration coming out of Florida than other states...I wonder why? Is it because of Terri's case, or because their laws are set up to do this more easily?
I don't know the answer. But the more I learn the more determined I am to act.
"But the more I learn the more determined I am to act."
YES!
So glad you understood the 'Florida thing' wasn't directed at you or your post.
The law regarding hydration/nutrition via feeding tube was enacted in '98 or '99. IIRC, Felos had some input as an 'end of life' expert. The detail is somewhere in the Terri threads. The first effort to kill Terri was in 2000, so attention has been on Florida since then.
The forces that are driving this are achieving their political goals as well as their obvious goal. Terri (and for that matter MRS) is nothing more than a tool to them.
If, as I fear, they are successful, this horrible event must not be forgotten. I have not read 'Men in Black' yet, but seems a place to start.
