An attorney for the Schindlers, Barbara Weller, said hospice workers began giving morphine to Schiavo to alleviate pain brought on by her body’s failure.
Weller said Schiavo cried when her mother hugged her Saturday night.
“She started crying. She knows what’s going on. She was trying to vocalize something with Mary,” Weller said. “The governor should know that Terri still knows who her mother is and she’s extremely distressed. She’s not a vegetable who doesn’t know what is happening.”
To think that this mother's child would use the last drops of water in her body to commune with her mother. My heart is broken ...
my heart is breaking as well... and yet I am still so angry that this was allowed to happen..
Oh, Father God, it is so heart-breaking to us to hear that Terri is still trying to communicate and is in obvious distress. How much more heart-breaking it must be to her mother's heart.
Please comfort Terri, Lord. Somehow relieve her distress. Give her grace to endure to the end. May she feel Your comforting presence all through the dark night ahead.
And give Your unexplainable peace and comfort to her mother and family as well, Lord. Carry them through this.
We thank You and praise You. Please bring good out of this, as You have promised. And if it still is Your will to raise her up, we pray that You will do so soon and bring relief to Terri and her family.
