Neither would I, but Pilate did the pass the buck routine. He let others have a say what to do even though he told Jesus that he has the power to release him or order him crucified.
He did. Jesus was crucified, though innocent. Terri is executed, though also innocent of any criminal charge(s), save for not being able to reach a spoon to her mouth by her own hand. Would all our criminals be guilty of such crimes.
