Actually, if it would break my parents' hearts and leave the stain of murder on several other souls, no, I would not want to go to Heaven on those terms. Not even a close call.

Well, obviously, the 'stain of murder' business is your view. But you are entitled to it. If you would honestly choose the slurry and the diapers over going home to Heaven, then you can morally do that to Terri (absent consideration of her own wishes, of course). [I realize that most here have convinced themselves that she either didn't have any wishes or they weren't accurately communicated or whatever.] But, in any event, I commend you for your consistency.

Somehow, I just don't think most here would really choose the slurry and the diapers as you say you would. But perhaps that is the great division in our country right now. between those who would wish to cling to that type of 'life' for themselves and those who wouldn't.

I think that what we want for ourselves and for our deeply loved ones so colors our perceptions of the medical evidence, of the trial, the conduct of the guardian, the conduct of the courts, the conduct of the governor that we can hardly talk to those who would frustrate what we would want to do for ourselves.

That is certainly true for me. I have actually had to make these life and death decisions for a loved one and the importance and personal nature of that decision makes me impatient with those who would pontificate one way or the other to me.
