Joe Scarborough on Terri Schiavo case
Scarborough Country ^ | 3/23/04 | Joe Scarborough

Posted on 03/24/2005 4:38:48 PM PST by freespirited

I spent the last week on my TV and radio show fighting to save the life of Terri Schiavo, like a lot of people. And like many opinion-givers, lawmakers and American citizens, I am saddened by the forced starvation of a young helpless woman, who is being sentenced to death simply because she can’t feed herself.

Now, applying this standard, infants, Alzheimer’s patients and the elderly, the infirm would face a court-ordered death. If we are to judge our society, as Hubert Humphrey once suggested, as I said before, by how we protect the weakest among us, our country is in trouble. . . .

I have noted over the past several days the growing outrage for a judicial system that would allow a mother’s daughter to starve to death in the most plentiful country on Earth. This morning on my radio show, like I said, I had planned to talk about the Patriot Act and a lot of other issues. But Portland called and they wanted to talk about Terri, Atlanta, Terri, Orlando, Terri, Washington, D.C., Terri, Iowa, of course. All they wanted to talk about was Terri.

Three days ago, few Americans seemed to care. But that’s no longer the case. We are all wide awake in America. And we are no longer afraid to look into the eyes of Terri Schiavo. And like her parents, we see a beautiful young woman made in the image of God, a God who will not bless this or any country that kills its weakest and most vulnerable citizens. May God forgive us all.

You have to remember these are LIBERALS. They beleive that dragging an unborn human out of the womb by their feet and stabbing it in the back of it's head is "progression". So from their stand point, in their uber bizzaro world, starvation is "peacefull". Sick. all of them.

One sentence? Zero literary references? What a letdown.

Come back after you hit the scotch. You're more fun when you're inebriated.

Don't you think we should at least investigqate the why Michaels attorney was on the board of directors of the hospice, why judge greers wife and the hospice, why they are so determined to kill this woaman before theiy appear on charges of inditement for 14 million in medicaid fraud, where apaprantly they had been mis-diagnosing 150 elderly patients as "termianlly ill" so they can get the $$$$. All died.

Don't you think that's fishy? If there is even a slim chance of it all being a set up to cover their own arses, isn't it worth investigating before we sentence in to die and find out later we made a mistake?

That came out terrible. When will FR have editing capabilities? Let me try it again.

Antonin doesn't believe those circumstances exist. It's all a fabrication, created by simpletons who don't possess the winsdom to realize that all we are is dust in the wind, that human life has no real value, and that process trumps all.

The man is a bloodless machine, manufactured by the American university system.

But even a machine likes a good drink now and again.

Judicial system starves a citizen to death and this is just fine.

Someone starves his dog to death and goes to jail.

Something is very, very wrong.

is an ACLU attorney??? Bottomless pockets. Aren't they supported financially by the likes of George Soros?

Unfortunatly they are supported by the likes of you and me.

They are allowed by an act of congress, (from the civil rights legislation of 1964) to bill their charges to the public coffers when they sue. Which is one of the reasons they are so zealous over seperation of church and state.

I went 8 weeks (twice in one year) without food or water.

You're a liar or a corpse.

ok, if it's all fabricated by simpletons it shouldnt be too hard for him to PROVE to all of us that it is just fabrication BEFORE we kill this woman. I mean, if he is sooooo sure, ANTE UP!

Oh, this is sweet. In the very state that is killing Terri Schiavo a rancher is being charged with starving his cattle to death. Hmmm...so...why did they arrest him? After all...the cows died gently - very likely in a state of grand euphoria!

She's brain dead and has no ideas at all.- your post

You are so easily influenced and gullible.

healthy degree of amour propre - one would be...a Calvinist - your post

Healthly is the key... you are into self-absorbed.
Who says....Calvinist. I don't think you have an original idea or made a decison without reading about it.

You know, sometimes in life - you just have to force yourself to put a sock in it. YOU and your opinions are all you are interested in.

Stretch yourself into being a person instead of a robot.

"All I'm saying is I have experienced no food or water for several weeks."

This is pure nonsense. No human can possibly survive more then 3-4 days without ingesting moisture either by drinking water, or eating foods that contain a high liquid content such as fruits and vegetables.

If only Terri had been a terrorist, she would have been so protected that they wouldn't have dared to put so much as a pair of oversized undies on her head. Alas, it's open season on innocent, disabled women whose husbands want them out of their lives.

Out of control? Have you read descriptions of what it's like to die of starvation and dehydration?

Excuse me. It's a very peaceful, painless death. That's what I've heard.

That's why they are giving her morphine now.

Oh, wait. That doesn't make sense does it?

I think it was McQaurrie who once wrote, "The devil's greatest trick was convincing the world that he didn't exist".

You silly. You may not have had anything by mouth. You certainly had an IV. That was hydrating you. The docs did not let you dehydrate.
