Yeah, me too. But I voted straight Republican until I got to the presidency, then I voted for the Independent Party hack. The poor rube got like 5000 votes in California, one of which was mine.
But think about it. In California, the Deathocrats have a nut lock on all the Federal elections; why shouldn't the conservatives post a protest vote of massive numbers? If the Repubs and conservatives of California rallied behind some third party shill, wouldn't that get the attention of the rest of the Nation?
Maybe some momentum against the same old choices could gather steam. But, currently, the Republicans are just a watered down version of the Deathocrats - the same socialist agenda, only enacted more slowly.
