Do YOU think it was effective? As far as I know, France is still up and running, and their ideology hasn't changed because of that boycott. Did the Baptist boycott of Disney make a significant difference? Did the pro-abortion boycott of Dominoes Pizza hurt their business? For every boycott by one side of a debate, their will be people on the other side who will give even more of their business to those companies to compensate. In the end you will just end up spinning your wheels while the all-powerful judges will keep on doing whatever the heck they want to do.
This is not a case of a company doing something wrong and a boycott letting them know you don't approve. This is a case of judges playing God and unless you can find a way to boycott their courtrooms you're not going to make any changes that way.
Sure the senators could've made a huge difference, but who when they elected these senators could've possibly forseen what was going to happen in this particular case? Let's quit trying to blame everything on Floridians out of runaway emotions and recognize that this is a problem with our entire judicial system.
And for those of you wishing more hurricanes on us, your lack of compassion betrays you. How can you pretend to care about one human life while hoping other innocents suffer the way so many did last summer. People died in those hurricanes. Innocent people lost their homes. If you seriously believe anyone deserves that because they lacked information or clairvoyance when they cast their ballots, then how can you expect anyone to take your compassion for Terri seriously?
G-d drowned everyone on the planet, with the exception of EIGHT, several thousand years ago...weern't the 'innocent' caught up in that flood, as well. G-d uses disasters to chastise and punish people, and keeps his own from harm, if it is His will. We'll see ho w it plays out. As far as boycotts go, if it makes me content to avoid the purchase of Florida products, why should that be any skin off your nose? Maybe I just enjoy "spinning my wheels"?
No, the citrus owners and whatever other FL big business owners didn't make any legal decisions, but they sure as heck voted for these laws, representatives, and judges. They are the ones who hold the power and can put pressure on these officials. They have the means to hire lobbyists. They are Florida.
My family voted earlier this week to never visit FL with our tourist dollar so not buying FL products isn't going to be difficult. We can't vote in FL to change the law, but we can certainly not support those who flagrantly flaunt what's just.
By the way...where did I say I was 'wishing' more hurricanes on you? My statement was that I didn't want to be around Florida if G-d's wrath is aroused by Terri's death. I stand by that opinion.
