Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was rmoved Friday.
Judge George Greer granted a motion from Michael Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, to lift a stay that would have allowed the Department of Children and Families to take custody of Terri Schiavo Thursday.
Greer's decision means that his order from Wednesday stands, and the DCF must stay away from Schiavo.
After Greer issued an order Wednesday preventing the DCF from taking custody of Schiavo, David Gibbs, the attorney for Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, filed an appeal with the Second District Court of Appeals in Lakeland. Under court rules, the filing of that appeal automatically resulted in a stay of Greer's order telling
the DCF to stay away from Schiavo.
The DCF could have taken custody of Schiavo during a brief period between the filing of the appeal with the DCA and Greer's granting of Felos' motion. But the DCF did not act during that time.
Security around the Pinellas Park nursing home where Schiavo is staying has been beefed up to ensure no one defies Greer's order.
This is insane!!
