Going back and forth to all these courts is idiotic.
It's kowtowing to the ego-maniacs sitting in their terroristic black robes.
It's the executive branch....oh, pretty please, will you just please....this once....let me do something?
And it's fully disgusting because this governor has full power to ACT under the constitution by using executive order.
Right. No more time to play games. Get with it, Jeb Bush!!!
JUDGE GREER DENIES SECOND DCF MOTION
Later in the day, Greer denied another DCF motion. The organization wanted to take custody of Schiavo in light of new evidence from its adult protective services team that she was misdiagnosed.
As news of Schiavo's condition worsened Thursday, demonstrators seemed resigned to her fate.
"We still need to plea for Terri's life with these elected officials,'' Schindler family spokesman Randall Terry said. "But I promise you, if she dies, there is going to be hell to pay.''

I can't help but think that even the people that want Terri to die might be just a little uncomfortable with ONE CIRCUIT court judge having so much power that he can "give the finger" to congressional subpoenas, Federal laws(like the one signed by Bush on Sunday), and very agency that is set up to monitor child and adult abuse in Florida, the Governor of Florida, etc.---
If one judge can have that much control, I think everyone, even the pro-kill Terri crowd, should be very afraid of our judicial system---
I thought they were over the line with the gay marriage thing in Massachusetts, but when they assume more power than all of the federally elected congresscritters, the Governor of his state, and the POTUS, I think the Senate better be VERY careful to only elect judges that BUSH wants for the next four years even if they have to filibuster for a week at a time for each one-
Just saw that, hearing at 6pm. Going to argue that Greer interpreted the law wrong. But it goes back to Whittemore. Sorry guys, but i fear this will go no where and will be overruled again. Also, by the time Whittemore makes his judgement Terri could be dead. I just can't sit here on my puter anymore. My heart is broken and I am so devastated! Oh lord, have mercy on us! We need your compassion and Mercy now!
Is it the state this time though and not the family? Will it be Gibbs or a state attorney?
Judge Whittemore will reject the appeal and Jeb Bush will do NOTHING.
Does anyone know if the power exercised by George W. Greer of Pinellas and Pasco counties is equivalent to that of probate judges in other states? This one seems to have accumulated far more power than his office would otherwise have.
what do you think would happen to the people outside the hospice if they rioted? What would the police do? What about the other patients in there?
Terri is certainly not the only one there to die. How many have died while this is goin on?
The black robe fever of the courts is fully exposed now. It is a question of what the steps needed to cure that fever. (perhaps judges should be term limited) (perhaps judges should be drafted, no more volunteers)
One thing is certain, no way no how should merrit retention EVER be allowed for any "Greer" in the future.
AGREED. The judges are in cahoots. They are wasting time while Terri dies.
Perhaps this life and death issue should require a jury.
"What? What's THAT going to solve? Why the heck should you throw away your vote and cast it for ______ who has no chance in the primaries? He's polling 4%, get a clue! Or think that you can support ________ in some whackjob conservative third party in the General Election. You will only pull votes from our nominee. Look, get behind the GOP frontrunner even if he is a moderate. Look how well Hillary is doing in the Democrat primaries. She's going to lock it up by April and be ready to smash us in the General election. You WANT TO GIVE THE ELECTION TO THE DEMOCRATS? Just because of that girl--what was her name--three years ago down in Florida? C'mon what's done is done! You're playing into the Lib's hands! We cannot save her now. The Bush's did the best they could at the time. Get with the G.O.P., we can't allow the Democrats to win!!" --"Party Stalwart
Not at all, Txsleuth, the more power given to the judiciary, the more the liberals like it, and they can prevent conservatives, many of whom are unreliable anyway, from ever getting on the bench.
I would have more hope :(
Reminds me of a brutal father beating his child to death while a mom stands by with her hands tied. Dad of course saying " I AM the Father"!!!!
Pretty sure that this is the state of Florida, only, since this involves the DFS assuming guardianship. Gibbs might file an amicus curie brief.
Gov. Bush's Request for Custody of Schiavo Denied
March 24, 2005
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. A circuit court judge denied Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's request to take protective custody of Terri Schiavo on Thursday, perhaps spelling the end of the protracted legal battled over how the severely brain-damaged woman ought to die.
The decision by Judge George Greer, who has consistently ruled that Schiavo did not want to be kept alive artificially, was not surprising, though it came two hours later than expected.
Greer had earlier barred the Department of Children & Families in an emergency order from taking custody of Schiavo.
