I once attended a soccer game in Golden Gate Park. 4th grade girls. I was cheering for my goddaughter from the sidelines and was told not to do so. You can only imagine what I told the parent who admonished me not to do so.
Yeah, right, there's no competition in the real world.

I've heard that where children play "noncompetitive" sports, where the adults forbid the keeping of score, the children still tally the goals in their heads. They want to be on the winning team, and they want to have some measure of how well they did.
