I'm wondering how we got to the point where trying to give someone who is thirsty a drink is a crime.

I'd like to see this one on a website to our good friends, the ACLU:

"Dear ACLU:

Are prisoners on death row in each of the 50 United States ever denied food and water for periods, in order to punish them for anything?

If not, why is that? What are the legal protections to prevent such witholding of food and water."

Wasn't it 2000 years ago this week that Christ's followers tried giving him water on the way to Calvary and we're violently punished by the Roman soldiers/police for attempting the same?
