So, cops are supposed to sublimate their sense of morality to people who write the laws?
Tell you what, let's put a 100 people on feeding tubes behind a chain link fence, remove the tubes, then have the cops keep people from taking them water or sustenance. Why not? It's legal, the courts say so....

No. Officers aren't empowered to second guess the legislatures or the courts. I hope this is sarcasm on your part. They most certainly do have a duty to ignore immoral laws and refuse to enforce them.
