I would love to see the President deliver the following statement later today:

"Good afternoon, my fellow Americans. On Monday shortly after midnight, the Congress of the United States passed a bill to protect the life of a disabled woman, Terri Schiavo. I signed that bill into law at 1:30 in the morning. This law was intended to obtain for Terri a new trial in federal court, with a fresh review of all the evidence pertaining to her wishes.

This morning, a federal judge in Florida ruled against Terri and refused to reinsert her feeding tube. He completely ignored the intent of the law, and also assumed in his ruling that the trial judge's findings were the final word in the matter.

He had no right to do this. The law expressly stated that the trial judge's findings were not to be determinative.

As a result, Terri's life continues to be in mortal danger.

I took an oath to faithfully execute my office as President, and that includes enforcing the laws of the United States.

Therefore, under the authority vested in me under Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution, I am issuing an Executive Order, effective immediately, to take Mrs. Theresa Schiavo into federal protective custody, remove her from the hospice, and take her to Walter Reed Army Hospital, where she will be re-hydrated under doctors' supervision, and have her feeding tube reinserted. She will remain at the hospital, and enjoy any and all medical care to preserve her life and health during the course of any further proceedings in this matter.

This Order shall remain in effect until further notice.

Thank you, and God bless and protect Terri Schiavo and the United States of America.

He has no legal authority to do this.

I told my Congressman Sunday morning that I think that some type of protective custody is the only thing that will save her. She has been subpoenaed as a Congressional witness, so what they ought to do is pull a Reno/Elian Gonzalez type stunt, hold her in contempt of Congress and confine her until she testifies. Heck, even the Congressional jail would be safer than where she's at right now. Sadly, though, I'm afraid it will not happen.

Cordially,
