You have taken quite a beating here; so I thought I should chime in. Your words have wisdom and maturity. I was not always a Christian, I was more of a “find your own truth” libertarian (but never a Democrat). I wish I never had premarital sex. I may never fully understand the consequences to a person’s spirit that our sexual revolution may cause. At the time, I thought Christianity was a religion for the weak minded.
Nevertheless, I understand it now. It is possible to be a good, moral person while living a life of hook-ups and rotating mates; heck, I have friends and family (single) who continue to do so. Whenever I bring it up in conversation with such a friend or family member, that person often ends up excusing or defending his actions. I get the impression that we all know it’s wrong at a deep, spiritual level.
At some point, the matter progresses beyond a rational discussion. Living according to a high moral standard does not make sense to a world not connected with God. I am reminded of the following:

Sorry to bust your bubble but that IS what I really think. Men and women need to be more reserved, and stay pure, until marriage, and stop letting their hormones rule the day. ( I can attest to a number of people I know, who did NOT, and are on their 2nd, or 3rd, marrage, by the late '30's, , and one guy,who pays support to TWO women, because he has no respect for women, and is abusive toward them(doesn't help that the kind of women he picks are drug-users, loose, etc).
I am NOT one of these "Sunday morning christians". I do NOT say things like this, and then, run to a bar, or out for a score. I have no "false front",(other than my reserved nature), as many do nowdays, just to "seem" like a moral person. What you see, is what you get.

Well then, your world is full of sluts. Funny, you lament the double standard further down but you failed to include men in your definition of "slut". Why?

Sick, twisted world? Man, you gotta get out more and appreciate people for who they are, not judge them for what they've done. There's alot of good people out there but they're all sinners (according to Christianity). Even you (according to Christianity).
I thought I made that clear. YES-- that word DOES apply equally to men, also. It is just that the WORLD does not use that term, for a slutty man. But they should. Man or woman, it is the same, in my opinion(which, as I guessed, is not shared by many). And YES-- unfortunately, the world today does seem to be full of sluts, both male and female, thanks to the "free love" movement, of the '60's, and the near-total apathy of the Christian community, toward such activity. Even many so-called "christian" leaders, today(and 20 years ago) state that it is not realistic to remian pure, and monagamus, today.

And, I DO look for the good in people , BTW. It just seems to be geting harder and harder to find good people nowdays, unless you fit the modern, immoral lifestyle, which I DO NOT.
As a scientist, I can tell you that people who are the LEAST scientifically educated, are the most vehement proponents of this doctrine.
By contrast, there are a lot of Christians in the ranks of of science.

I'm sure there's thousands of sick twisted things happening in the world right now. I'm also sure there's thousands of good things happening. Is it balanced? I don't know but the whole world isn't sick and twisted.

I don't know Christianity all that well and this is a sincere question. Aren't you supposed to reject sin but welcome the sinner, or something like that?
