So if you became disabled you would want to be starved to death.

Perhaps you would do well to clarify what degree of disability you would tolerate before the starving would begin. You could decide WHO will evaluate that degree of disability. You could specify what degree of conflict of interest you would tolerate in a designated guardian. You would WRITE DOWN these directives, and make sure there were multiple copies available to a variety of family members. Then your wishes would be crystal clear.

Terri never had a chance to do ANY of the above. We should err on the side of life if there is no PROVEN advanced directives.

If I ended up in a wheelchair, with my wits about me, I think I can live with that. If I was like Ms. Schivo, I would want to be let go. Yes, I have made my wishes very clear with my family in black and white.
