I got through and they said the Governor is doing everything "within the law" to help. Hmmmm...where have I heard this line before? In any case, the man on the phone was very kind and sounded sympathetic.

VATICAN CITY The Vatican is weighing in on the Terri Schiavo (SHY'-voh) controversy.

The Vatican newspaper (L'Osservatore Romano) is criticizing the removal of the Florida woman's feeding tube. It says, "Who can decide to pull the plug as if we were talking about a broken or out of order household appliance?"

Over the weekend Congress passed a law giving Schiavo's parents the right to sue in federal court to have the tube put back in. President Bush signed the measure, and a lawyer for the parents went back to court in Florida this morning.

The Vatican paper said the case involves "the slow dying of a person -- not a 'vegetable.'"
