"she never wanted to be kept alive with machines and tubes. Yet court testimony indicates her best friend, Joan, also heard Terri say that.
Do you have a link?"
The actual testimony isn't here but in the summation there is a reference to an "expert witness" who says the comments of her friends is consistent with kids Terri's age. Apparrently there were several who testified she didn't want to be hooked to a machine, burden on society etc. from what I read.

The actual trial was May 1998
Michael files petition for court to determine whether Terri's feeding tube should be removed; Michael takes position that Terri would chose to remove the tube; Terri's parents take position that Terri would chose not to remove the tube.
Pehaps you can find the transcripts?
We need to be clear here. Joan is Joan Schiavo and Michael Schiavos sister in law not Terri's best friend.
And Terri was not 11 or 12 when she made statements that Karen Anne Quinlan shouldn't be removed from a ventilator. Judge Greer assumed that Quinlan died in the '70s when in fact she died in '86 which would make Terri a legal adult. The Judge ruled that his mistake made no difference to the testimony.
