FAMILY SPOKESPERSON: SCHIAVO FEEDING TUBE REMOVED!
Bay News 9 ^ | 3/18/05

Posted on 03/18/2005 12:18:38 PM PST by areafiftyone

A spokesperson for Michael Schiavo says Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was removed Friday with Michael in attendance.

He says a prayer service was held first, and that Michael was emotional and crying, saying he wanted to put the situation behind him.

Terri Schiavo's parents, the Schindlers, visited with Terri Friday morning, prior to the tube's removal.

Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court Judge George Greer denied two U.S. House of Representative emergency motions Friday, which allowed the tube's removal.

The first motion was to intervene in the case for the House Committee on Government Reform and the second motion was to push the date back nine days so it could conduct what it calls a field investigation concerning the healthcare of Schiavo.

A neurologist appeared at Terri Schiavo's Pinellas Park hospice center Friday with a TV screen to show video of patients he treated that were in worse condition than Schiavo and got better.

In Terri's case, I'm convinced that in large part it's a visceral reaction to the way she looks.

People look at her, and are just, on some level, revulsed. You know, because she looks pathetic and inelegant. (Very similar to how people can be revulsed by a mentally retarded person.)

Therefore, people envision themselves being like that, and in particular, how embarrassed they'd be if they looked like that.

If they made those groaning noises instead of speaking clearly - how humiliating!

If they had to be fed - oh, how horrible! Just like a baby!

Therefore, with a wave of their hands, they declare "I just wouldn't wanna live like that. It's not worth living like that. Go ahead and kill me if I'm like that." That's how easy it is to say. (Especially since 99.999% of the people saying it know, deep down, that the issue will never come up for them.)

I just don't get the impression that a great deal of thought has gone into it. (Look at the people ready to blithely declare that even being fed through a tube would make life not worth it!)

I think it's mostly just an aesthetic reaction. She looks icky, so she's better of dead.

The whole thing is sick, this is life and death, it's not the new reality show Survior Hospice. People's feeding tubes get voted off and their blood sucking spouces get the million dollars.

Right, she looks icky so better off dead and then combine that will all the misinformation the media reports and you get people thinking that MS and Greer made the right decision.

>And now we pray, either for a merciful death or for a mind-blowing miracle.<

She started to cry when she was told the feeding tube was going to be removed. She showed not only awareness, but she showed a desire to live.

Is that enough of a miracle?

Right, she looks icky so better off dead and then combine that will all the misinformation the media reports and you get people thinking that MS and Greer made the right decision.

The media misinformation definitely plays a huge role. Heck, it was only recently that I discovered (1) she's NOT brain-dead, (2) she's NOT "on life support", and (3) she's NOT a "vegetable"! And I had been aware of this story for a while. The media just does a horrible job (sometimes highly misleading job) explaining this case, and Schiavo's actual state.

But frankly, I'm not sure the "kill her" people are that interested in Schiavo's true state anyway, even if the media were telling an accurate story. The fact that she looks icky is basically enough to convince certain people that her life isn't worth living. Just give them some scientific-sounding phrase to describe her condition - it could be anything, let's say, THX - just tell people "You see, doctors have examined her and she's THX" - and some people will look at her, see how icky she looks, and then say "Man..I wouldn't wanna be THX. How can we force her to stay alive if she's THX?"

Ok, they don't use the term THX, they use the term PVS, but I don't see a huge practical difference in terms of how much thought is going into these blithe, sweeping "go ahead & kill her" statements.....

If you understood Waco, OJ Simpson, Clinton/Lewinsky and Elian then you should have no problems understanding Schiavo - the spiral of horror on the move
March 18, 2005 - the right day to remind the sheeple of the last days of Auschwitz. In particular how each day 3,000 to 5,000 hungarian jews accepted to be peacefully transported from the arriving train directly to the chamber gas, where a surprise was waiting for them.

>There is no way that could have happened... I think this judge is a scumbag, I think her husband should burn in fire blazing hell. But that bogus e-mail "press-release" is NOT true..

There is NO WAY the feeding tube would've been removed if she was coherant enough to try to say "I WANT TO LIVE" and was very difficult to calm down...<

Yes, isn't it convenient that Greer has had the foresight to forbid any kind of camera or recording equipment in the room? I believe the attorney. YMMV.

Not to mention that Greer has never been in the room with Terri to see for himself!

Then likewise, if God does not want you dead, you can stop eating and drinking and remain alive.

Or, if God really wants other people dead, you can kill them? That is where this logic is heading.

"What is next?"

Today she will lay quietly. We do not know what she will be thinking. She will remain responsive to painful and auditory and visual stimuli, just as she has for years. What is she thinking? I cannot say and neither can the judge. Day two she will have lost fluid via respiration and her kideys. She will become thirsty. She may or may not perceive the desire for food. Her urine in the foley bag will become more and more dark yellow. She will continue to dehydrate as a direct result of the judge. The mucous membranes of the mouth will become dry.....you know like your mouth gets "cottony" when you have fallen asleep with your mouth open. She will cry out or moan for water, but the judge has said kill her. Even the mother who brought her into this world will not be able to quence her thirst. She will only be able to sit and watch as the judges takes ten to fourteen days to execute her daughter. She will, by day 3 or 4 show signs of her eyes "sunken in" as the interstitial fluids become more and more constricted. Her respiratory rate will quicken as her heart rate increases trying to deliver enough blood volumn to supply nutrition and minerals and fluid to keep the cells of her body alive. NO. The judge is in the process of killing her. If you try to intervene you will be imprisioned. This is an order of the court.

Day 5 and 6 will be marked by continued normal physiologic responses in her body's attempt regain homeostasis. Yes, it has that capaacity, but not without food and water. You may not break the law and give her water or nutrition under penalty of imprisionment. Moaning. Moaning. After a few more days she will become hypernatremic. Expect grand mal seizures. There will be no way to stop them. No feeding tube. No IV tubing to give meds. Thick frothy fluid will strain thru clinched teeth, as she tries to breath thru her teeth as the seizures continue. We can watch. We cannot help her. Yes we (collectively) have the resources and knowlege to reverse this set of events, but we are prevented by Judge Greer. You will go to jail if you try to help.

Does she perceive pain? Will she be in a physical hell but unable to cry out for help. No matter. It would do no good. The judge has ruled.

Probably by day 8 or nine she will truly be in the vegetative coma which the court so badly wanted. Oddly enough she will swell. Many of her serum proteins will have been consumed and the water will flood from the walls of the capillaries into the interstitial area between cells. The pulse which had reached 130/min. will show signs of irregularity. Then over a day or two will slow to 60, 50, 40, 30, then into a bradyarrhythmia incompatible with liveing. Judicially decreed death sentence. It will be over for Terri. A hell of a dying. Justice is served according to one democrat judge.

QUESTION: If her feeding tube was removed does she die instantly?

No, it will take weeks. Her tongue will crack, her stomach will shrink, she will have excruciating headaches because her brain will dry up, just to mention a few tortures. NO, I am NOT being facetious.

I heard a nurse today state that she cared for dying patients in similar circumstances and that it is not as bad as all that because everything possible is done to relieve the pain, including morphine. I don't think I buy it.

There must be a special place in hell reserved for Mikey, Greer and all those others who salivated waiting for Terri's execution to proceed. I hope that they are shown the same mercy as they have given. May they rot.

One more thing to add to my last post about the nurse. The nurse thought the judge did the right thing because the husband was the guardian and it was the husband's choice. (I hope she's never my nurse!)
