If I recall, the Quinlan family appealed first to the Vatican and the Vatican agreed that removing "extraordinary means" of life support was acceptable and stated that nutrition was not extraordinary, but ordinary support of life. And they requested she continue to be nourished after the mechanical life support was removed. After the requested guidance from the Vatican for their religious convictions, they appealed to the State of New Jersey and won the right to let their daughter die. Thank you. I knew the answers. I wanted those who were born after us to see what sort of precedent might have been accomplished...that brought us to this day.

I knew the answersI figured you did. That was such a big story in New Jersey at the time but as you point out most people born in the last 30 years or so never heard of it.
