Only a federal court can do that, and they've refused to do so several times in this case.

I think that Congress can shop around and find a sympathetic federal judge in the next few hours. That's my prediction.

Previously, federal courts refused to interfere in this case, because no federal issues were at hand. Now the legal landscape has changed. Congress wants to get hold of a witness, and the subpoena language says specifically that no tube should be disconnected.

I'm going by media reports, I have not read the actual subpoena, so I could be dead wrong.

As far as I can see, there still are no federal issues. Depends on the federal judge, I suppose...
