So, since you believe yourself to be in the company of Nazis, when will FR see your opus?

As soon as you shave off that hideous moustache.

He's the guardian - he makes all the decisions about her care. Someone posted what a loving, caring husbnad he was. Why can't she even sit in the sunshine?

"Can Bush issue an Executive Order mandating that the poor lady be fed?"

I'm not sure he can. Maybe a lawyer is able to answer that.

I would think he can. An executive order is just that, an order by the president. I surmise this order can be almost anything except an illegal act. The question is: Is the order to let someone live an illegal act? I don't think so.

If the President or the Governor can legally issue such an order and they fail to do so, their political careers, IMO, are over.

Hoping and praying for a miracle.

***You people are trying to break all sorts of laws, constitutional and other wise ..***

Hey, wanna buy a clue?
There is no such thing as an "other wise" law. If a law isn't constitutional, by definition it isn't a law.

That being said, if where you live they do have "other wise" laws, well... it must be a real hoot to live there.

And as to reading the Constitution, try it - it's fairly short and won't hurt you. Oh and FYI, nowhere in it does it mention "other wise" laws.

The other thing is that we're not talking about extraordinary care...just food and water.

The parents could take care of her at home, but the "husband" wants her dead.

Me thinks, your problem is that your constitution has to deal with situations nobody thought of it 220 years ago. I´m not in the position to think about it, but I´d say it´s time to reform it. E.g. our Art. 1 says the dignity of every human is untouchable, it´s binding for all state authorities and even in civilian life.

If Terri's tube is removed will her parents be allowed to stay with her until she dies ?
I wonder if they'd take pictures of her dying state.
That would sned a lot of people over the edge.

Thanks Travis

I don't think I can ever come close to explaining the pain one feels in a situation like that. Being unable to communicate and hearing people discuss and debate whether you live or die.

I empathize with Terri is some strange way I suppose.

The simple fact that she is alive should mean something to everyone here. Terri wants to live!!! If Terri did not want to live then she would have given up on her own.

Greer was elected, had the support of the local Republican party even though he disagreed with Jeb Bush. He appears to be senile and anti-Catholic. BTW, the ACLU supports Michael.

Where are the feminists? Those who say capital punishment is too cruel for the worst of killers?

Isaiah 26
20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

It's amazing what TLC can do to improve the quality of a disabled person's life

It is indeed...
I had this one litle lady, who was brain damaged..
her family told me that in her younger days..
She so loved make-up and lipstick and thigs like that..
So everyday, I would put a little pedastal mirror in front of her, crank up the head of her bed, and put blush and lipstick on her, sometimes a little brooch, too.

She never smiled or acknowledged anything I did...
But once, she touched my face...and that was enough for me..

Generally what's done in terminal cancer cases is they just give the patient too much morphine (which they're already recieving for the excruciating pain). Right or wrong, THIS is what happens all the time around our country, NOT feeding tube removal. Lord knows, morphine is FAR more humane.

Thank you expatguy.

Your post is the one I shall remember from this emotional roller coaster.

I will print it and carry it with me - just in case.

If only Terri had been so lucky.

You've missed my point entirely. An infant cannot feed itself. A bottle must be inserted into its mouth for nourishment. Terri is no more being "force fed" than a baby is when receiving a bottle. What's happening to Terri is no more torture than giving a baby a bottle.

"If I were brain dead, the machines would be off already here in Germany, or they would be kept on to take some organs from me the docs have use for (don´t worry, I have filled out a declaration that I want to donate organs)."

Now why in the world would you want to do that. The same forces that want to kill Terri want to kill others by removing their organs. The varied definitions of brain dead are all contrary to morality and require that someone be declared dead who is in fact still living (read my tagline).

There is a body of law for advanced directives.

There is also what is called a health care surrogate. If something happens THIS person makes the decisions. (BTW I have had all divorcing clients do those "just in case" because during the pendency of a divorce a soon to be ex is still a husband or wife with the authority to pull the plug.)

The problem is we have conflicting "heresay". But an exception to the heresay rule because the declarant is unavailable.

Hollywerid will make a movie of the week on Lyfetyme which will have teh judge as a hero (with far more hair, or perhaps just make it a woman or perhaps make it a woman whose husband wants to die and a wife fighting the family with a new baby from some other guy on the way)
