But the right to end your life on your own has been acknowledged, so there should be a regulation for cases when you can´t express your own will. Here, the case would be clear: if the husband and parents don´t state a similar will of the affected person, there is no right to switch off the machines.
To: MHT
Why don't we use those tools? Because Judge Greer will not allow it!

So you would let your mom live like that for over 15 years? Ask her if she agrees. Absolutely, I would. She would be guranteed constant attention and love - which is probably a good indicator why YOU wouldn't want her to have the same.

I hope so.
Judge Greer wants to enjoy absolute power, be another Saddam. He wants to decide who lives and dies and how they die. He must get a high from this all. An honest judge would have withdrawn from the case.

Greer should be arrested.
To: Crazieman
Every single one of you that want her to die is a disgusting NAZI.
So, since you believe yourself to be in the company of Nazis, when will FR see your opus?

How is she suffering? Again, she smiles at her parents and communicates with them. Is she in pain? No. Would she be if they starve her? Yes. Okay, I see your point now. She will suffer less by starving to death than by living out her natural life with opportunities for rehabilitation, etc. You have such a kind hearted soul to want to end this misery. //sarcasm off

A judge cannot enforce a decision. They have no police, they have no marshalls. They can issue a warrant.

I hope you didn't misunderstand my post I don't think so. "Forcing" food down Terri's throat is equivalent to "forcing" food down an infant's throat. If the former can be lawfully prevented, so can the latter.

Lots of us longtime freepers agree with you.
I've counted two so far. Quit lying.
BTW...you have a company manufacturing heart pumps, you lament the fact that there are not enough heart donors for those needing heart transplants, and yet you have a desire to starve someone to death who is disabled? That's twisted logic if you ask me.
Also, it's a good thing that you had food to eat 20+ years ago when you were living on the streets in Houston. Otherwise, we as a society should have just let you starve to death in the gutter where you belonged since you weren't a "productive" member of society.
Grow up and get a spine...

"God bless America? The whole affair is embarrassing for the United States. Why don´t you guys have thought about these cases before? This is one of the cases where I am really glad that we inferior Europeans have a codified law and not common law." Hahahaha. Yes, Michael, you poor delusional little man, we here in the greatest country on earth care what you and the rest of Europe thinks. Hahahaha. You are so...over. Mind whatever is left of your own business.
To: Deb
Michael's motive: He doesn't want her rehabilitated to the point where she can indicate HOW she got in her brain-damaged state.

Rush just reported that the House of Representatives(?) are sending down a group of lawyers to stay the removal of the tube. This is getting to nerve racking...let the PARENTS take care of the child...they created and gave birth to her.

(I don't know if you can quash a legislative subpoena.) This hasn't been done. Well, I guarantee you, it'll be attempted in this case! Perhaps, Mark McGwire should have hired Michael Schiavo's lawyer.
To: AppyPappy
Ask her if she would want to be there for 15 years.
Go ahead, ask.
Nothing against your mom, but I think I know the answer.
