When they remove her feeding tube, she will not die. She will die AFTER she starves to death over a period of weeks, feeling the same agony you would feel if you were starved to death.

Unless she's sedated and unconscious. Too obvious a remedy?

This has gone up and down the chain, to the USSC and back, yet people want to keep it dragging on and on. For whatever reasons he's making the call, her husband has the decision-making authority.

A deus ex machina in the form of a stroke or something is called for, to resolve this once and for all. Sorry if that seems too harsh, but most people on this thread seem happy to see her external body just waste away for years and years. Talk about cruel.

I reply: Uh, NO. That's quite obvious and that's the point. As soon as they get the tube removed, they'll be back in court saying how cruel it is to watch her starve and they should be allowed to have a doctor "assist" her with a lethal injection. Too obvious a "remedy"?

I don't get this obsession with a pile of flesh and bones. That's basically what she is now. Let her go. Let her soul move on to better places. How can people who claim to believe in God do this to her?

Listen Hank, your negativity really sucks. I don't understand why all the naysayers come to these positive threads to call the rest of us idiots in so many words.

A feeding tube is NOT and extraordinary measure to keep someone alive. Thousands of people are alive and recieve their nutrition in this manner.

Bottom line, it is cruel and painful. Just as you must think the rest of us shouldn't assume she would want to be alive, you can't assume she wouldn't. It is best to err on the side of life.

Hank, if YOU were sedated and unconscious, and were not provided food and water via a feeding tube/IV, you would also die within 7-14 days. How is that not OK for you, but OK for a woman who's only crime is that she is brain damaged. Should we just kill all mentally challenged people, since they can't contribute to society, just useless eaters???

but most people on this thread seem happy to see her external body just waste away for years and years. Talk about cruel.

Tell that to this woman, who was in a coma for (I think) more than 10 years, and is now recovered: "former paralysis victim Kate Adamson (who had her feeding tube removed for 8 days) and her husband Steven Klugman will discuss their efforts to help Terry Schiavo."

"her external body"

Are you a Scientologist?

This is their terminology for the human body. They consider it an "external shell".

Just wondering.

Your easy answer is "sedation", but are you aware that previous people who have recovered from comas can feel the misery of no food/water, acrual people who have lived a short time thu that experience?
Just imagin (if you can fell anything at all) what tht would be like, andmn NONE OF US, OR DOCTORS CAN SAY WITH CERTAINITY that people don't suffer during that process. PROCESS.
Remember years back when it was medically believed babies didn't feel pain and circumcisions were routinely done on them, it has since been discovered they DO FEEL PAIN?

her body wouldn't be wasting away if her husband-in-name-only hadn't denied her ANY therapy for many years...indeed, doctors have opined that both physical and neurological therapy could've helped her -

He has even denied her medical treatment when she was ill with a cold and with a serious urinary infection - and no dental care.

Who is the cruel one?

Same old misinformed b.s. here. Terri Schiavo is not 'wasting away' at all. Where were you and your fellow 'mercy' killers when Christopher Reeve completely lost the use of his body, needed to be fed, and needed a RESPIRATOR to breathe???

I didn't hear the cries from the death crowd out there to pull Reeve's respirator because "he was wasting away, was totally paralyzed, had failing organs and no hope of recovery". As far as I'm concerned the voices of death can all rot in hades with "doctor" Kevorkian.

God bless you Terri, you are serving to inspire an entire nation with your incredible will to live and your unbelievable inner strength. You are an angel.
