Community property is accumulated only after the marriage. Anything acquired prior to that time is individual. Only about a dozen states, including CA, TX, and LA, have community property marriages.

I am sure this has been asked and answered, but I must have missed it. Is there a legal reason that MS has not filed for divorce?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Could I assume any money made (legally) from say book deals, movie rights and the like, if made after they are married would be fair game? I say legally as I am sure they can find a way to skirt the rules.
