What difference would three weeks make when his mind was made up? To think that this date had a significance for him and the others for such a horrible thing is just vile. Seems like a simple tactical timing move. He could sense the pressure building, so he figured that if he put things off some of the pressure would dissipate and the forces of life would lose some momentum.
