"I will believe McGwire over Canseco any day of the week.

Then you are in denial. Look at the facts, all he has to do is say what Schilling, Sosa and Thomas said. That he did not get an injection in the ass by Jose. Jose's right there, look him in the eye in front of God and country and call him a liar. He knows he's under oath and he can't do it. No one is asking him to name names just deny the charges. That whole name names non-issue is a weak attempt to divert attention from the question everyone wants him to answer under oath. McGwire isn't worthy of your loyalty.

If Canseco is lying, let's see the libel suit.

"Look at the facts"

And what are the facts ???????

I could have told you going in to this whole stupid witch hunt that McGwire would not name any names, nor comply with their silly questions that are going to resolve nothing.

He will not put on the show the senate panel wants him to put on. That is not the type of guy he is. Mark left baseball and that is that. He has started a new life and wants to concentrate on his family. He is rarely even seen at baseball events anymore. This is a guy who gave up multi-millions of dollars to play for the team he chose. He also walked away from a contract that he could have made multi-millions more. He is not money driven. He could have played more ball and broke many more records. But he chose to hang it up rather than hanging on just to make some more money and break a few more records. That should tell you something about the guy.

Now, back to the facts. Name me the facts that prove McGwire used steroids.

Be careful how you use the word "everyone". Some of us have lives and don't have this prurient obsession with hearing "under oath" what Mark McGwire has or has not injected into his body.

McGuire may have done steroids...as did many in baseball, football, etc. I really don't see what the big hullabaloo is about.

Baseball is cleaning up it's act finally. Seems to be a a terrific opportunity for Henry "Nostrilitis" Waxman and the rest of the committee to get some "face time" on TV and give the impression that Congress is actually doing something constructive, when all they are doing is "grandstanding" (if you'll pardon a terrible pun)

Maybe. However, concerning Canseco, this is what George Will had to say about him in his latest column -

The one witness eager to testify is Canseco, who is flogging a book in which he accuses many players of using steroids. Jeff Merron of ESPN.com read the book -- has Canseco done that? -- and found:

Canseco says that during spring training 2001, when playing for the Angels against the Mariners and their second baseman Bret Boone, ``I hit a double, and when I got out there to second base I got a good look at Boone. I couldn't believe my eyes. He was enormous. `Oh my God,' I said to him. `What have you been doing?' `Shhh,' he said. `Don't tell anybody.''' But in five Angels-Mariners games that spring, Canseco never reached second base.

He recounts game six of the 2000 World Series -- which ended with game five. He recalls baseball in 1982 being ``closed'' to Latinos -- although there were 62 major leaguers from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic and more from other Latin countries.

The Committee for the Dissemination of Great Messages to Kids has found the witness it deserves.

Maybe Mark should call Canseco a liar and be done with it. Maybe all these players should collectively tell Congress to kiss their arses. I think this committee is a waste of time. If Congress really wanted Baseball to clean up its act, just whisper a little bit that they will remove their anti-trust status. Bonds and the rest of them will be gone so quick, it would make your head spin, and baseball would clean up.
