It has been tried before in 1986 by President Reagan and it failed miserably.
Also, there is the huge (fully known, fully allowed) existence of the Underground Economy of Mexican migrants brought up here to do "Jobs American Won't Do."
The underground economy last year is estimated to have robbed the United States of over $480 BILLION in lost tax revenue due to unreported taxes because the labor was (of course) illegal in the first place.
The big problem with all of this is that the Democrats are jumping right on top of it and sure as the world is round and the Pope is Catholic will fashion a giant hammer and smack the holy living dribbles out of Republicans in 2006 and 2008 with it.
To continue in the path of the underground economy and the open border (unofficial) policy is political and national suicide.
I thought Bush was going 'easy' on this because of the 2006 elections. The democrats never do anything about the border issue either.
Moral ethics, the politicians care more about winning and keeping their positions than about the results of all this border issue. I should have said 'lack of' moral ethics.
