Except, my Bengali doctor predates independent India. He fought for Indian independence but couldn't leave the country fast enough when it became independent. Again, if the present geographical boundary of India defines the body politic, then why didn't the Mughals, Shavaji and Tipu Sultan just unite to form India? Why is it the Nizam of Hyderabad wanted to have nothing to do with India? India is a figment of Nehru's imagination.
