US Marines tell UAW Socialists where to go and where to shove it in Parking feud

"However, I've made my decision -- either you support the Marines or you don't."
Lt. Col. Joe Rutledge

The 1st Battalion, 24th Marines reserve infantry rifle have had it with the UAW Socialists and have procured thier own parking lot. The US Marines were snubbed by Anti-American socialist loving UAW Officials by telling them not to park their cars in the UAW Lot if they drive "Foreign Cars" or have "Pro Bush" bumper stickers. The US Marine Reserve Battalion have procured another parking lot at a nearby apartment building for reservist to park in.

The UAW has NO plants. They do have goons who try to enforce thier bans at company plants however.

I parked a Mazda 323 (built in Hiroshima, Japan) in GM lots all over Michigan for a couple of years when I was working as an outside contractor. The security guards would always tell me that I better park that thing right next to the booth, if I wanted it to be in one piece when I got back.

I gotta say, though, I parked as close as I could to the door every day, because I had to lug some heavy cases back and forth, and never had any problems. Except one day, when I was actually inside the GM Hydramatic plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on the day they laid off 3,000 workers. I was coming one way in my car, and the shift change was coming the other, half of them holding pink slips. Let's just say it was... unpleasant.

While both sides say the dispute has been overblown, it revealed the depths of the UAW's antipathy toward the Bush administration and its concern over the rise of foreign automakers in the U.S. market.

Bush's fault.

I'm a big GM enthusiast. This complicates things.

Especially on a day where GM warns big. I heard per vehicle pension cost now exceed the cost of steel. GM may be headed for bankruptcy.

The UAW is having a bad day.

GM may be headed for bankruptcy.

I heard this on the news yesterday. ~sigh another government bail out or will GM have an internal cleansing fire and do the right thing?

If GM goes the bankruptcy route I wonder if this forces Ford to do the same in order to keep labor cost competitive. While not good it is probably overdue. The UAW has forced GM into a untenable situation. GM management hasn't helped either.

Don't expect any more. I have enough musical talent to play the radio. I'll leave lyricizing to DFU.

Man, I love reading those comments! When UAW members are decrying the whole thing, it really puts it all in perspective.

Doug, if you've got a picture of the building up, the song can't be far behind!

I hadn't thought about a song for the building, but I don't want to get in trouble for threatening its demise. :)

Thank you.

I think I have given up hope and will buy my wife an X3 BMW. More than we want to spend, but... if these a$$holes don't get it, then the US$ dollar spending process will.

Statement by UAW President Gettelfinger on Marine reservists parking at UAW headquarters

“I have reconsidered and reversed my decision not to allow Marine reservists to park non-union made vehicles or vehicles displaying Bush stickers at Solidarity House on weekends.

“Some people may have thought my orginal decision reflected a lack of support for the Marine Corps and the service of Marine reservists.

“That certainly was not my intention. Having served in the Marine Corps Reserves myself, I fully appreciate the sacrifices and contributions made by America’s reservists, National Guard members and active duty military personnel and their families.

“That said, I made the wrong call on the parking issue, and I have notified the Marine Corps that all reservists are welcome to park at Solidarity House as they have for the past 10 years.

“I regret that the controversy over this decision has overshadowed the many good things the UAW and our members are doing to support and express our appreciation to America’s service men and women and veterans.”

This is my note sent to the UAW:

Gentlemen, It is good to know that you are ripping off your Union Members. I will never buy a car built from the UAWs. Kiss off the Goose that has been laying the Golden Egg before the workers realize what crooks you are. Sleep tight. And explain your principles to your children. If you can.
