Any good historian will tell you what about about the end of Rome was underpopulation in the Western half of the Empire. Rome no longer had the manpower to sustain its territorial mass much less than hold the central state apparatus together. Its the prominent historical example of a civilization that died because its people no longer had confidence in its ability to survive. Unless Europe and Canada wake up, they're headed to the same fate that befell the ancient Romans. And unlike the latter, they have plenty of warning.
