Eight people are dead and four others injured after gunfire broke out during a church meeting this afternoon at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield. Police say that the suspect is among the eight dead and no other suspects are being sought.
The dead range in age from 10 years old to 72.
It's weird, isn't it? Right now Fox is still talking about Nichols and continuing to show the same tapes of him walking into the courthouse. Not that it's not an important story, but for goodness sakes, they're alomst ignoring the Wisconsin shooting.
I've been changing channels looking for information on Wisconsin, but there's been very little. I don't know what these cable news shows are thinking sometimes. Maybe they invited all these guests to talk about Nichols and don't want to break away from what they prepared. ("But, but, we were all set to talk about Nichols!") That happens a lot.
You'd think cable news stations would be best at breaking news, but they're not. And unfortunately, Fox is one of the worst, especially on weekends.
It is too bad that the lessons we learn the most from often come way too early in life.
As tough as that was, look at the man that you are today. Perhaps it was a 'lesson' that prepared you for the trials and battles that you fight today. I, for one, am glad to know you and proud to call you FRiend. Thanks for all you do to make this a better America for all of us.

Wow. Thank you.
I noticed the same thing. I live in Se Wisconsin and when I went to CNN and FOX the emphasis was on the Atlanta Court House killings and the Nichols killing spree. As well it should have been. Nichols killed a judge in a court. Killing judges in courts is barbaric and is anarchaic. We will never survive as a civilization if we allow people to assassinate our public officials. What happened in Brookfield, Wisconsin, today, was a random act of violence. What happened in Atlanta was anarchy, meant to destroy our basic faith in our system. The Atlanta assault along with the murders of Judge Lefkow's Mother and Husband should put us all on notice that we must protect our public officials. What happened in Brookfield, WI today disturbs me. What I really fear, though, is that the killing of judges and their families will put us back into the dark ages.
Yes. Old Herbert W. had some rather strange ideas, IMO.
But he was one heck of a marketer. That was his profession before he decided to build his religious empire. For years, they flooded the country with their 'free' 'Plain Truth' magazine...a very slick publication that always had some apocolyptic photo and story on the cover to suck people in.
But once they had them hooked, they were masters at sucking money out of them. Tithing, to them of course, was required for membership.
Second, the attack on the Court has a far far greater impact on society in general than a murderous feud within a Church.
Gosh, from the quotes in your post, you would think that the founding fathers really DID think that God had a place in forming and framing the United States and it's Constitution---
MY, MY, and all this time we have been preached to by the left that they explicitly intended a definitive divide between Church and State---
Hm.........
Maybe someone tried to make him hold a rattlesnake? No? Well...just guessing.

Man Kills 7, Self at Wis. Church Service

By RYAN NAKASHIMA, Associated Press Writer
BROOKFIELD, Wis. - A gunman opened fire Saturday at a church service being held at a hotel, killing seven people before taking his own life, authorities said.
Officers found four people and the gunman dead when they arrived about 1 p.m. at the Sheraton hotel. Three others died later at a hospital, said Daniel Tushaus, chief of the Brookfield Police Department.
"There is nobody else being sought at this time as a suspect," he said.
The victims were all in the same room at the hotel, Tushaus said. The suspect, a man of about 45 who was armed with a handgun, was affiliated with the church, which had been meeting at the hotel every Saturday morning for four or five years.
Tushaus did not identify the victims but gave approximate ages. Two boys ages 15 and 17, a 72-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman died at the hotel. Three men ranging in age from 44 to 58 died later at a hospital.
Four other people were hospitalized in serious condition.
Some hotel guests remained locked in their rooms after police surrounded the building and would not allow anyone to enter or leave.
Karen Suick, 48, said she arrived at the hotel Friday night with 15 players and parents for a hockey tournament.
"One of our hockey dad's two daughters are still in there," she said. "They called his cell phone. They were OK, but they were told to go back to their room. So that's what they did."
At least two church groups were holding meetings in the hotel at the time of the shootings, police said.
Brookfield is a western suburb of Milwaukee.
The playboy son started a different group. He died not too long ago.
BS. It was a thug who knew that he was going to be convicted and he did what thugs do. It had nothing to do with 'faith in the system.'
The Atlanta assault along with the murders of Judge Lefkow's Mother and Husband should put us all on notice that we must protect our public officials.
More BS. We need to punish the guilty swiftly and appropriately harsh. We need to treat criminals as such and quit coddling them. We need to throw out the PC regulations that allow any person to have a job that they are not seriously qualified for.
Perhaps these 2 judges were models of judicial excellence, I don't know. But it seems to me that it is poetic justice in general (and possibly injustice in the particular) that what judges for 40 years have permitted to happen to us, has come home to roost.
Judges are as bound by their oaths as any other official and they weaken the system and the nation when they don't. The effects of their disrespect for the Constitution go far beyond the case before them.
A lil melodramatic arent you? If you were so concerned Im sure you would have called first BEFORE posting a reply to a message on a message board....right?
I propose that the difference in coverage is also due to the fact that one perp was on the loose while the other was already dead.
to stuck:
Do you really think that comment was worth making?
"High profile" stories (gun shootings or pitbull attacks) are the result of newsroom editors, not "quickening" of events.
The criminal yesterday STOLE a gun from a lady cop who if not for political correctness would probably not be assigned to a job guarding a man she could not beat in a fight.
NO change to gun laws (even prohibiting the possession of all guns except law enforcement) would have prevented yesterday's courthouse rampage.
The blame must be put on the security detail.
Well, wait though. That makes it sound like you have to ascertain that anyone assigned to guard a prisoner can beat him in a fist fight. (???)
Maybe there shouldn't be a lone guard escorting a violent prisoner.
Central.
But my sister's husband went to East!
