The gender of the debaters is irrelevant to the debate. Protagoras' points are not any less valid if he is male, and yours aren't any more valid because you are female.
Considering it's women who carry the child, I think the sex of the debator is highly relevant. It's so easy for men who rape these women to say. And for men who aren't going to die because of an ectopic pregnancy.
Gender is not irrelevant. Most men (not all) cannot understand the full implication of an unplanned pregnancy these days. No man can experience the beauty of a baby growing inside his body and the bone-wrenching pain when that love is combined with the fear of having the baby. Few men will lose sleep over an abortion or even an adoption.
