I'm afraid I don't know what "mildly pro-choice" means, except that she is willing to kill babies if it's convenient.

The Republicans have the momentum moving their way, almost entirely because of what is variously known as the conservative religious or pro-life vote. That's why Daschle was voted out--because he blocked the appointment of pro-life judges. That's why Bush gained senators in a midterm election which happens very rarely. That's why Bush picked up more Hispanic votes and Evangelical votes and Catholic votes.

If the Republicans turn their backs on that progress, they will lose everything they have gained among Hispanics, Evangelicals, and Catholics. They will even kick away the chance of peeling away black voters by appealing to them as social conservatives concerned about family.

They will lose the moral high ground they have so painfully gained over the Democrats, and be seen as nothing but country clubbers and me-firsters.
