Most folks don't realize it, but there has been a huge swing from Catholicism to Protestantism in Latin America for a couple of decades.
It shouldn't be surprising to anyone that that translates to Hispanics who now make their home in North America.

There has been a huge swing particularly in Guatamala (now with more Protestants than Catholics) and Brazil. But most Hispanics in America are Mexican, and the switch in that group comes from their American experience. Part of it is tied up with a desire for perceived upward mobility, and part of it because of matters of religious style preferences to which they are exposed.

My last housekeeper was from El Salvador (legal since Reagan) and she was Jehovah's Witness. That surprised me.
