A motive for the shooting was unknown. One woman said she saw the man run past her as she entered the parking garage of the courthouse.

The motive was "unknown"????

Good grief, the reporter who wrote this couldn't guess that maybe the perp was trying to escape????

Good grief, the reporter who wrote this couldn't guess that maybe the perp was trying to escape????

Reporters sometimes go to ridiculous extremes to not jump to conclusions, even when the conclusions couldn't be more obvious. I remember my frustration on 9/11 when no journalist was willing to say it was a terrorist attack. It wasn't until George W. Bush referred to the incident as "an apparent terrorist attack" that the journalists felt comfortable describing it as such.

I doubt that he shot the judge in order to escape. That was probably vindictiveness.
