"The allegation was that he was in a relationship with the young lady for about eight years. He planned on spending her birthday with her. He had gone to her house a couple days prior to her birthday with an ice chest and lunch meat and bread. He had planned on staying with her and he apparently held her hostage and allegedly raped her, kidnapped her and sodomized her and, at some point, she got away," said Rockwell. Nichols lived in a gated community called the Laurel Grove condominiums just off I-285 in Sandy Springs, according to information obtained by 11Alive's Jon Shirek. One of his neighbors said he never wanted to go up against Nichols, who is 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. "Once I heard about it and (police) were all around this area, my wife was at home and I told her to please get out of there because the guy's a maniac," a neighbor said.
