Problem is, others have paid too for the mistake. Those given the responsibility to protect should be prepared to do so. It's unfortunate that anyone other than the perp is dead, but when we sort this all out we will see a LOT of really bad security work. Fatal.
Personal grief aside, this appears to be a huge breakdown in security, which ought to concern everyone.
